Innovation and sustainability in the new BRT branch in Stezzano

BRT continues to invest in branch renewal, to ensure greater service efficiency, thanks to innovative technologies, and environmental sustainability.

Today the new branch of Stezzano, in the province of Bergamo, was opened. The branch has a total area of 7,500 square meters, including 5,800 square meters of warehouse, and has been designed to minimize the environmental impact, in line with BRT’s objectives and the Geopost Group’s commitment to become an international benchmark for sustainable deliveries.

The location, close to the motorway exit of Dalmine, allows to reduce the kilometers traveled, optimizing movements and helping to minimize the consumption of vehicles. The size of the plant allows a rationalization of the withdrawal and distribution activities, reducing the route distances and CO2 emissions. Thanks to an innovative sorting system, the new subsidiary is also able to handle 6,000 packages per hour (120 sorting stations simultaneously) with the acquisition of weight, volume and image of each package.

Stezzano is also a branch at the forefront of the path of electrification of vehicles, it is equipped with:

  • 130 kw photovoltaic system.
  • 17 intelligent systems for the charging of electric vehicles (systems capable of managing the recharges of vehicles according to the availability of energy and to differentiate the charging priorities according to the state of the battery).
  • an "eco" fleet consisting of 8 electric vehicles including 2 cargo-scooters and 18 low emission vehicles powered by natural gas. The goal for 2024 is to reach 20 electric vehicles that will manage 100% of the deliveries of the city center of Bergamo without emissions.
